*NOTE: Not all writing concerns can be sufficiently addressed during a single tutoring session. The purpose of this service is to improve your foundational writing skills for ongoing progress, not simply to "fix" an essay. Therefore, more than 1 session might be required to work through a single writing assignment.

Writing Assessment (Homeschool)

Focusing on idea development, organization, coherence, grammar, and style, Dr. Melissa Hudler will provide detailed assessment of your home learner's writing strengths and needs. Her assessment will go beyond algorithmic grading to offer authentic reader engagement with your child's writing, resulting in meaningful feedback and guidance designed to:
• Build writing confidence
• Improve areas of need
• Leverage existing strengths
• Develop a more deliberate thought process for and approach to writing

Assessment includes:
• Commentary throughout the essay
• Summary feedback with suggestions for improvement
• Instructional resources (if applicable)

Upon booking this service, please email your 2-3 page* essay to writewellsolutions@proton.me. There is NO MEETING included with this service. Assessment results will be sent via email. If you prefer in-person assessment, select the Interactive Writing Assessment session instead.
*Essays must be typed and double-spaced using Calibri 11 or Times 12 font. If the chosen essay is longer than 2-3 pages, please send just the first 2-3 pages.

Private Instruction (Homeschool)

As your personal English teacher, I will guide your homeschooler through your chosen curriculum or base instruction on my resources and materials. With either approach, this service includes lesson planning, tailored instructional methods, supplemental materials/lessons (as needed), grading, and 3 assessment reports/year.

Interactive Writing Assessment (Homeschool)

This service is an assessment and tutoring session in one! During the session, the student plays an active role in the assessment of a final draft by taking notes of my feedback, answering questions, asking questions, and making corrections in real time. With the interactive approach, the student. . .
• gains a deeper understanding of and clearer perspective on his/her own thinking and writing processes,
• enhances his/her audience awareness by responding to a real reader's questions and critique,
• develops self-assessment strategies for more confident and deliberate independent writing, and
• recognizes that there is always room for improvement.
How does this service differ from a traditional tutoring session?
• It addresses the needs of an essay considered complete and in final form.
• It addresses the strengths of the essay and ways the writer can leverage those strengths in the current and future essay assignments.
• It focuses on the overall effectiveness of the essay from an expert reader's (audience) perspective.
• The original essay will receive an assessment ranking.
*A reduced rate will be given If an additional session is needed to complete the assessment for the same essay ($40.00-50.00/session)
--> The student must bring 2 physical/hard copies of his/her completed essay and be prepared to take an active role in the assessment session.
